Fave Restaurants in Bromont
Going skiing this weekend? We’ve been skiing in Bromont the last 5 (more?) years. I haven’t tried every restaurant (and there are a few new ones) but I’ve tried a lot. Here are some of our family faves:
La Selva has the best pasta and pizza for my money. We regularly order from here but it’s pick up only. You could also eat in.
Babar has a great slightly more upscale vibe and Middle Eastern cuisine if you are looking for something besides pizza and burgers.
Le Roux has a great vibe and is pretty big so you’d probably have a better chance of getting in without a reservation.
I've never been to Chardo, but it is billed as the top restaurant in Bromont. My youngest is a very picky eater, and I just don’t see anything he’d eat on the menu, to date. Too bad.
Special mention to La Fromagerie. Think pizza and poutine but with locally made cheese curds. We always have their pizzas on hand in our freezer.
ps I asked my son what his favourite place was and he said East Side Mario’s. I have to admit I won’t say no to that salad, and really, it’s a decent choice if you need to stop somewhere on the way up (or back) as it’s right off the highway.
Is there anywhere I’m missing? Let me know!
3 Small Acts of Support Family and Friends Can Offer During Postpartum
Hi, I’m Alix, founder of TENDER.LY, a doula company dedicated to supporting families through fertility, birth, and the postpartum journey. As a certified postpartum doula, I’ve seen firsthand how small acts of kindness can make an enormous impact on new parents. At TENDER.LY, we specialize in helping families navigate this transformative time with services like postpartum planning, meal prep, and overnight support.
While professional support is invaluable, family and friends play a crucial role in helping new parents feel cared for. If you’re wondering how to show up for someone in the postpartum phase, here are three small yet powerful ways you can make a difference:
1. Bring Nourishing Food
Cooking is often the last thing new parents have time or energy for. Dropping off a nourishing meal is one of the most appreciated gestures.
Focus on dishes that are easy to reheat, like soups, casseroles, or grain bowls.
Bonus points for including snacks they can grab on the go, like energy bites or cut-up fruits and veggies.
If you’re unsure of dietary restrictions, ask ahead or consider gift cards to local restaurants or meal delivery services.
2. Take on Household Chores
The day-to-day upkeep of a home can feel overwhelming when caring for a newborn. Offering to tackle even one small task can bring immense relief.
Do a load of laundry, fold and put it away.
Wash dishes, vacuum, or tidy up shared spaces.
Run errands, like picking up groceries or dropping off packages.
The key? Be proactive and specific. Instead of saying, “Let me know if you need help,” offer: “I’d love to come by on Friday and fold laundry or clean the kitchen. Which works better?”
3. Offer Emotional Support
The postpartum period can be an emotional rollercoaster. Simply being there to listen without judgment can mean the world to new parents.
Check in with a simple text: “Thinking of you—no need to reply, but I’m here if you need anything.”
Respect their boundaries if they need space but stay consistent in showing care.
If you visit, let them share as much (or as little) as they want about how they’re feeling.
A Gift That Truly Supports
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to support new parents, consider gifting postpartum doula support. Whether it’s meal prep, overnight care, or guidance on infant feeding, professional help can be life-changing during this tender phase.
Postpartum support doesn’t have to be grand or complicated. Often, it’s the small, thoughtful acts that help new parents feel cared for and less alone. By offering your time, kindness, and understanding—or the gift of doula care—you’re playing an important role in their journey through this transformative phase of life. 💛
So the next time you wonder how to help, remember: a warm meal, a tidy space, or an open ear might just be the perfect gift.

Just a few of the boots mentioned in the article: From top left and around: J.Crew New Nordic Boots, Moon Boot (currently on sale),La Canadienne Deon Bootie (also on sale), Inuikii Mountain Boots, ba&sh Comy Lace-Up Boots (also on sale)
Winter Boots You’ll Actually Love
1) Moon Boot - Love them or hate them….I love them. I think they are ridiculous and cute but also so warm and I’m a sucker for a pop of colour. If a more low key colour is your thing, they come in lots of varieties including black and metallics.
.. In the same vibe are these, which are officially my new favs
2) Classic everyday with a twist - want an everyday pair of boots that are sooooo warm but also cute? Bonus! You can switch out the laces for a pop of colour/different vibe.
3) Okay, so it’s winter but you want to wear jeans or a dress and NOT huge winter boots. Of course, you still don’t want to slip or ruin a pair of boots not meant for harsh climates or salt. Let me introduce you to your new friend! The Comy lace up ankle boots from ba&sh are perfect. I have a pair and becuase of the thick rubber sole, I am covered and cute as the snow & salt hit the ground.
4) I cannot tell you how many times I pat myself on the back for having a pair of winter boots that I can just pull on and slip off. Uggs. They are like the cozy, comfortable, ugly, dependable and sometimes impractical sweater in the back of your closet that you just cannot bring yourself to get rid of. I come back to my Uggs all the time and I’m pretty sure you will too… just be sure to protect them before the salt gets anywhere near them.
5) Lets have some fun!!!! Add these to a monochrome look or even a floral print. Jazzzzzzyyyyyyyy!
6) Special mention for these Doc Martins. They are always sharp, warm and won’t have you slippin’ all over the sidewalks.
7) The last one to add is the La Canadienne DEON. Front zip shearling lined bootie. Easy on/off. My go to!
